Dr Isabel do Vale is a registered, specialist, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in private practice, working predominantly from her private practice at Netcare Linksfield Hospital in Johannesburg. She is backed by an all-female team who provide empathetic pre-op and post-op care and attention. Dr do Vale also performs some work at Life Glynwood Hospital in Benoni.

Dr Isabel do Vale is a full member of the Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons of Southern Africa (APRASSA) where she has served on the executive board since 2018. She is also a member of ISAPS and the Society of Rhinoplasty Surgeons South Africa (SORSSA).

After completing her medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg in 2006, Dr Isabel do Vale went on to complete a further 11 years of training in surgical disciplines with 5 of these years dedicated to her specialist training in Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgery. During this time, she performed procedures and gained expertise across the scope of plastic surgery, including breast, hand, cosmetics, general and paediatric plastic surgery.

On completion of her registrar training, Dr Isabel do Vale obtained her specialisation through the Fellowship of the College of Plastic Surgeons of South Africa: FC Plast Surg (SA).

In 2019 Dr do Vale went to Sydney Australia where she gained valuable training and mentorship in cosmetic and aesthetic plastic surgery under the tutelage of Dr Tim Papadopoulos. Dr Papadopoulos is a past president of ASAPS and is a board director of ISAPS, and is internationally renowned for his expertise in aesthetic surgery, body contouring and body lift surgery.

Dr do Vale performs both cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures for both women and men. In terms of her cosmetic surgery expertise, Dr do Vale has a keen interest in helping women feel their most confident whether it be through breast augmentation, body contouring, facial rejuvenation and other plastic surgery for women. Dr do Vale works with an all-female team to ensure that our female patients feel comfortable and at ease for all their consultations.

Being a mother of two, Dr do Vale is able to empathise with parents whose children may require paediatric surgeries such as otoplasty (ear pin-back surgery), Cleft lip and palates, and reconstructive surgery after injuries or burns. She discovered her love for paediatric surgery early on in her career and her significant experience in paediatric plastic surgery has enabled Dr do Vale to perform surgery on even the youngest of children.

Dr do Vale regularly attends local and international conferences and workshops, to keep abreast of the latest surgical techniques and advances, thus nourishing her continued education.

In 2015 Dr do Vale was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship award, by Rotary International, for extensive and ongoing charity work and service to the community- she remains deeply humbled by this honour.

Meet the Team

TARRYN
DON-TORANNINI


 

Personal Assistant & Patient Co-ordinator

 

Qualifications:
Certficate in Practice Management/ BTI Anatomy & Physiology Course
Diploma in personal Training

 

Personal assistant to Dr Isabel do Vale, Tarryn also functions as our patient co-ordinator. Tarryn has worked in the healthcare sector since 2013, before becoming a vital member of our team since 2017.

Tarryn is responsible for the day to day running of the practice. Through her excellent customer service and administration skills, Tarryn co-ordinates all patient relations, schedules appointments, facilitates billing and assists clients and patients with administrative tasks and queries. Her knowledge on our services together with her friendly manner will ensure you are made to feel comfortable and your enquiries are addressed.

Tarryn is also a qualified personal trainer and can help clients with online home training programs and returning to physical fitness after surgery.

MS SHEREE VAN DER MERWE


 

Clinical Associate

 

Qualifications:

Beauty Salon Specialist

 

Sheree holds a BCMP degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, making her a fully qualified Clinical Associate (or Physician Assistant) to Dr do Vale. Sheree is trained in Basic Life Support and Paediatric Life Support. In her role Sheree is involved in direct patient care and also assists Dr do Vale in the operating theatre. Sheree is a vital member of our team and on a daily basis, Sheree is involved in all levels of patient care including the initial consultation, clinical photographs, ward rounds, follow-up and wound care.

Prior to her medical training as a Clinical Associate, Sheree also trained as a beauty therapist and performs some of our in-office treatments. Having graduated top of her class, Sheree is enthusiastic and meticulous in her work and is loved by patients for her warm, caring personality. She is passionate about patient care and strives to deliver the best possible care.

TSHIMOLLO MASHILWANE


 

Clinical Associate

 

Qualifications:
BCMP(Wits)

 

Tshimollo holds a BCMP degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, making her a fully qualified Clinical Associate (or Physician Assistant) who works part time with Dr Do Vale. When Tshimollo is not in our practice, she works mainly as Clinical Associate to Neurosurgeon, Dr Christos Profyris.

Tshimollo is also trained in Basic Life Support and is experienced in patient care. Tshimollo’s gentle nature and diligent hard-work make her an incredible asset to our team. Tshimollo is involved in patient care and sometimes assists Dr do Vale in the operating theatre. Whenever Tshimollo is in the practice, she is always ready to help in any way she can.

DR MARIANNA HADJIMICHAEL


 

Specialist Anaesthesiologist

Dr Marianna Hadjimichael is a specialist Anaesthesiologist who trained at the University of the Witwatersrand. After qualifying as a specialist anaesthetist she worked as a consultant at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital for 4 years before moving full time to private practice in 2015.

She has a special interest in administering anaesthetic for cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures, paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia (children and newborns), as well ENT procedures.

Dr Marianna Hadjimichael has a very friendly, calming disposition and all our patients quickly warm to her and feel relaxed in her excellent care. When putting a patient to sleep, Dr Hadjimichael provides pain relief, sedation and monitors the patient's vital signs before, during and after the surgical procedure. She works closely with Dr do Vale to ensure that every patient’s anesthestic is uniquely tailored to their needs, and makes every effort to ensure a safe and pleasant outcome.
