Breast Augmentation
What is breast augmentation?
Breast augmentation (also known as breast implants or mammoplasty), is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the world. The goal is to create aesthetically pleasing breasts by increasing the breast size, correcting symmetry and enhancing the shape of the breasts with the use of silicone gel breast implants. The shape, size and symmetry of a woman's breasts can have a profound effect on her body image, and thus, breast augmentation surgery with silicone breast implants can boost self-confidence.

Who might benefit from a Breast Augmentation?

What does a breast augmentation procedure involve?
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure that typically lasts around 1,5 to 2 hours. Dr do Vale's goal is to achieve an attractive, natural look. As a woman, she understands what women want. No two patients are the same, and Dr do Vale will apply her skill and appreciation of shape and scale to optimise the size and shape for each individual. Undergoing breast augmentation is a major decision. During your consultation, Dr do Vale will discuss and answer the questions you may have regarding breast enlargement, all options available to you, the risks involved, and the expected benefits and results so that together you can come to a personalised decision about the right breast augmentation for you.
Dr do Vale uses the Vectra XT 3D camera to provide a life-like 3-dimensional view of your breasts from all angles. Using this advanced imaging technology, Dr do Vale can show you various simulations that experiment with different surgical options (such as different breast implant sizes and shapes), to show you a ‘preview’ of potential post-operative results and how they might look on your body, as well as where the scars will lie. Vectra-XT 3D imaging will help give you peace of mind about what you can realistically achieve from your plastic surgery. (Read more here…)
The ideal breast implants are selected based on discussions with the patient and measurements that are taken in the consultation. Dr do Vale utilises small incisions that are hidden beneath the breast in the infra-mammary fold or along the outer edge of the areola where they are subtle and less conspicuous.
A pocket is created, and the breast implants are then inserted either beneath the breast tissue, but above the muscle or in some cases where additional soft tissue coverage is required to create a natural look, the breast implants are inserted under the pectoralis muscle. There are different types of breast implants available for breast augmentation, and Dr do Vale will assist you in selecting an appropriate option for your unique body type and your individual aesthetic goals. Finally, the incisions are neatly sutured, and dressings applied.
Recovery after breast augmentation:
Most patients will take about one week to recover before returning to work. It may take a few weeks for the incisions to fully heal and a good quality supportive bra without underwire should be worn, day and night, during this period. No strenuous activity should be done during this time (approximately 4 weeks). Once the incisions are fully healed, you can resume your normal exercise routine. Dr do Vale will advise you on the most suitable scar management regimen to ensure that your scars are as inconspicuous as possible.
